Bio! Ida Veronica Pellei (American, 1927-1993) was a painter, designer + illustrator primarily known for her floral artworks. She was born in New York City to Italian immigrants. Her general education included studying art at a specialized high school + from there, she continued with a scholarship to the Jamesine Franklin School of Professional Arts in New York City which was then followed by studies overseas at the Accademia di Belle Arte in Rome, Italy where she resided for four years.

During the 1970’s, her popularity began to grow + her original paintings sold for more than $3,900 each. Pellei painted murals + windows for department stores in San Francisco + NYC, + her artwork appeared in the LAX airport when it first opened as a flight terminal.

At least twelve of her original paintings were reproduced as art prints by the New York Graphic Society. (They retailed from $40-$70, which equals about $224 to $391 today.) Included were the prints: “The Leopards”, “Yellow Tulips”, “Ferns with Mixed Basket”, “Primavera”, “Basket Bouquet with Anemones”, “Field Flowers and Fern”, “Orange Zinnias and Greenery” “Summer Afternoon”, “Joys of Summer”, “Daisies and Strawberries”, “Sunflowers” + “Yellow Daisies and Marguerites”, to name a few.
