Rare antique, circa 1900, ornate brass pot formerly used in China for ironing silks. The pot would be filled with hot sand + the base would smoothly run over the silk. It was called a dragon pot. 9.3 oz.
The pot measures 8 1/4"L, 4 1/4" in bowl width. The bowl rim is beautifully scalloped + the sides of the bowl have fire breathing dragons in low relief. There is a small brass leg under the handle, to balance the iron.
The handle of the bowl has a relief effect that features a vine w one white stone. CHINA is stamped on the bottom.
